Provide low-carbon solutions
We are partnering with customers, the government and other parties to enable key sectors to decarbonise with low-carbon solutions.
As Singapore progresses, there is a rising need for more and cleaner energy in the country. A major challenge Singapore faces is how the country will continue to grow sustainably and have cleaner energy options to power homes, businesses and vehicles.
Shell supports an ambition to limit the rise in average global warming to 1.5oC. Our aim in Singapore is to deliver more and cleaner energy solutions to help meet Singapore’s and Asia’s growing needs. Read on about some of the low-carbon solutions we provide.

Singapore’s first fully-electric ferry
‘Penguin Refresh’ is the first of three fully-electric harbour craft that will ply the route between mainland Singapore and the Shell Energy and Chemicals Park Singapore. These 200-seater ferries will transport 3,000 passengers daily or an estimated 1.8 million passenger trips annually. They will save 6,258 tonnes of CO2 emissions as well as 1,952 tonnes of fuel per year for us.
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) will work with Shell to make our charging facilities for the ferries at Shell Energy and Chemicals Park Singapore available for other electric harbour craft users. Shell is also exploring the feasibility of expanding the shore charging infrastructure to serve as an electrification hub for harbour craft in Singapore.
Singapore's first LNG bunkering vessel
FueLNG Bellina, a joint venture between Shell and Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd, is the first in Singapore to provide ship-to-ship LNG bunkering services, supporting the government’s goal to grow Singapore as a global LNG bunkering hub. Shell has already completed more than 400 ship-to-ship LNG bunkering operations in eight countries.
