Better fuel economy
Shell FuelSave Diesel's clean-up action is designed to help remove carbon deposits from the injectors and prevent further build-up, which can enable fuel economy up to 3%2 and lower operating costs2.
The business world is changing, with rising costs and a greater environmental focus.
Your fuel choice ultimately impacts your total cost of ownership and operating efficiency. How can you make fuel work for your bottom line?
To stay competitive, you need an energy solution that helps you deliver more with less. Shell FuelSave Diesel, with our most advanced DYNAFLEX Technology1, can take your vehicles and equipment further, at a lower operating cost.
Your business benefits:
It’s more than fuel. It’s the energy that empowers your business.
Engine technology is advancing, placing new and changing demands on diesel. Carbon deposits on the injector nozzles can lead to less efficient combustion and, in turn, to higher fuel consumption and exhaust CO2 emissions, torque loss and unplanned downtime.
Shell FuelSave Diesel with our exclusive dual-detergent DYNAFLEX Technology are especially designed to actively clean up carbon deposits from the injectors and prevent further build-up. Starting to work after just one tank, this helps reduce your operating costs and increase your fleet and equipment efficiency.

Title: Fuel Journey Video
Duration: 4:25
The following script contains voice over delivered by two characters; one male, one female.
The female voice over (V/O) provides very short status updates, alerts and technical information throughout the journey. Tonally, it will have the feel of pre-recorded messaging, with clear, impassive delivery i.e train station announcement, Siri, etc.
The male voice over is the main narrator and your companion for the journey. He takes on the role of mission control, communicating with you over a radio channel and guiding you through the experience.

Male V/O
Ok... Welcome on board.
We’re almost all set here, just relax, take a look around…
Male V/O
That liquid surrounding you is Shell FuelSave Diesel.
You’re going to travel along with it as it surges through an in-line six cylinder diesel engine, and some of the most extreme conditions you’ll ever experience.
And we’re good to go... Ready?
Female V/O
Telemetry readings online.
On-screen: Dashboard animates in showing temperature readings at <30°C and 14.7psi
Male V/O
Look down and you’ll see the pressure and temperature readings.
Keep an eye on these. You’ll see when we say extreme conditions…
We really mean it.

Entering fuel tank
Male V/O
Shell FuelSave Diesel is designed to help reduce foaming when refuelling,
so filling your tank can potentially be faster and easier.
That’s the engine starting - hold on!
Male V/O
Up through the fuel pump…
And now into the fuel line…
...There’s the rear wheels, suspension, drive shaft.
On-screen: Dashboard temperature readings at <30°C and pressure rises to 60-75 psi
Male V/O
And coming up on your right, you should be able to get a good view of the engine...
The piston is plunging up and down 25 times a second.
The engine is running at 1500rpm...
...That’s where we’re headed.

Shell FuelSave Diesel is designed to help to prevent fuel system corrosion
…We’re approaching the common rail pump now.
Here’s where you’re going to see some extreme pressure readings.
On-screen: Dashboard temperature readings rise to 35-75°C and pressure rises to 35,000 psi
Female V/O
Entering common rail pump
On-screen: Dashboard temperature readings rise to 120-145°C and pressure at 35,000 psi
Female V/O
High pressure warning
Male V/O
Injection into the cylinder is an extremely high-speed event.
...Brace yourself, it could be a rocky ride…And we’re off!
Male V/O
You’re hurtling through the injector nozzle
Female V/O
Entering combustion chamber
On-screen at time of injection: dashboard temperature readings rise to 1850-2000°C and pressure at 700-800 psi
Male V/O
Over time, deposits can build up in the
Diesel injector nozzle here, potentially reducing engine efficiency over the lifetime of the vehicle
On-screen post-ignition: dashboard temperature readings rise to 2300°C and pressure to 2700-3000 psi
Male V/O
Shell FuelSave Diesel unique formulation keeps the injector nozzles clean from deposits, thereby helping to improve engine efficiency and save fuel (and therefore in turn can help save CO2 emissions) over the lifetime of vehicle.

Exiting through exhaust value
On-screen: Dashboard temperature readings drop to 600-800°C and pressure to less than 30 psi
Male V/O
Out of the combustion chamber, into the exhaust manifold...
Female V/O
Approaching turbocharger
Male V/O
...And straight into the turbine – see it spinning?
On-screen: Dashboard temperature readings drop to 300-400°C and pressure to 15.7 psi
And finally, onto the home stretch…
...Into the catalytic converter and particulate trap…
On-screen: Dashboard temperature readings rise to 350-500°C and pressure at 15.7 psi
...Onto the silencer...
On-screen: Dashboard temperature readings drop to >200°C and pressure to 14.5 psi

Shell FuelSave Diesel - Designed to last longer
Shell FuelSave Diesel is designed to help:
* Compared to regular diesel without fuel economy formula. Actual savings may vary according to vehicle, driving conditions and driving style.Internal Shell tests with heavy duty engines used in road transport vehicles have shown fuels savings of up to 3% compared to regular diesel without fuel economy formula.
Actual temperatures and psi’s can vary depending on the system arrangement, ambient temperatures and engine technologies in use.

Clean up effect
The graph shows the clean-up effect of Shell FuelSave Diesel with DYNAFLEX Technology versus regular diesel on a heavy-duty engine’s load-pulling power. The graph’s x-axis represents the duration of the engine test in hours while the y-axis represents normalised engine torque as percentage. At the beginning of the test, the torque is at around 100% for the first 5 hours. After 15 hours, the torque drops to below 98%. When the engine is run on Shell FuelSave Diesel, the torque gets back to almost 100% in 5 hours and with 400 litre of fuel used, which corresponds to approximately 1 fuel tank of a typical heavy-duty vehicle. When the engine is run on regular diesel, the torque remain just over 98%. The torque difference of approximately 2% between Shell FuelSave Diesel and regular diesel continues to be stable for another 10 hours for the remainder of the test.
1 DYNAFLEX Technology or DYNAFLEX formulation are our names for our latest generation of advanced formulations for gasoline and diesel fuels.
2 Compared to regular diesel without fuel economy formula. Actual savings may vary according to vehicle, driving conditions and driving style. Internal Shell tests and with our customers have shown a range of fuel savings depending on age of vehicle and type of operations.
3 In heavy-duty engines up to and including Euro III.
Thanks to Shell FuelSave Diesel with DYNAFLEX Technology, we’ve managed to reduce fuel-related operating cost by 30% compared to the regular diesel used before, by reducing engine system failures and vehicle downtime as a result of fewer breakdowns*.
